If we determine that working together will provide the support you need, we’ll set up an initial session for 75 minutes. I will encourage us to meet in person whenever possible, but video sessions are also available depending on need and comfort level. In our initial session, we establish the frequency of meeting together.
In person sessions can be held over tea, a drink over a fire pit, a meal, a walk in nature, or in another environment/doing an activity that may be important or comforting to you. The location is your choice.
My Philosophy & Approach
I approach existential conversations with two basic assumptions: 1) we often know what we need, want and think, but we seldom create space to for ourselves to think and reflect; 2) answering thoughtful questions out loud in the presence of an attentive listener allows us to hear and discover our own thoughts in a new light. I draw from a variety of frameworks and theoretical concepts to support existential conversations including existential philosophy, active listening, nonviolent communication (NVC), the work of Nancy Kline, the presence of an existential vacuum, self determination theory, modified socratic questioning to name a few. Further, an important tool that I employ and encourage others to use is the act of an existential experiment, doing something new (big or small) to see what new perceptions and insights emerge.
Fees and Policies
Session Fees - All virtual and in person office sessions are $85 and range from 45-75 minutes depending on what you need. I do have sliding scale options. If my services would support you, but cost is an issue - let’s talk. Everyone deserves support.
Location Fees - All in person sessions held in a location of the clients choice and in Alameda County, Contra Costa County, Marin County, San Francisco County and San Mateo County come with a location fee of $35 to cover the cost of my travel. If you would like to meet in a location not listed, let’s talk to see if I can meet you there.
Cancelation Policy - There is a $50 no-show session fee for sessions missed or not rescheduled at least 24-hours prior to the appointment start time. This fee can be waived if you reschedule your appointment to occur within 2 weeks of the missed date and attend the rescheduled session.
